MLA meets dist admin officials to ease traffic at Sinnar Phata
Nashik: Saroj Ahire, NCP MLA from the Deolali assembly constituency, met senior district administration officials earlier this week to resolve the persistent traffic problem at Sinnar Phata on the Nashik-Pune highway.Over the past few years, traffic on the Nashik-Pune highway increased significantly, particularly after the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway was opened.A large number of private and commercial vehicles from Nashik and surrounding areas use the highway via Nashik Road to reach Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahilyanagar, Shirdi, Beed, Parbhani and Nagpur.According to the commuters, traffic snarls remain to be a regular occurrence even though the stretch near Sinnar Phata was widened a few years ago. Many commuters pointed out that the one-km-long flyover between Datta Mandir and Sinnar Phata has only two lanes on one side, and whenever any vehicle breaks down on the flyover, movement of traffic gets paralyzed.Residents said continuous flow of trucks and other vehicles from the Eklahara side of the junction also adds to the disruption.Ahire said "Every effort will be made to address the issues at Sinnar Phata. While one meeting has already been held with district administration officials, more meetings are planned with the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), National Highway authorities and other relevant departments."
