Nashik: Maharashtra governor and chancellor of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV) Jishnu Dev Varma urged agriculture graduates to dedicate themselves to the development of their field of work and mankind.
Varma was speaking at the 39th convocation ceremony organised at MPKV's Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar auditorium in Rahuri. In his capacity as the chancellor of all state universities, the governor presented an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for overall development, including of agriculture — where the govt has launched various schemes with a focus on farmers.
The governor said, "The future of Indian agriculture hinges on technology-driven solutions, startups and sustainable practices.
In light of climate change, technological advancements and the evolving global landscape, the said sector requires visionary leadership and innovation."
Fadnavis also addressed the gathering. He said, "The Jalyukta Shivar has made water available to farmers. The Chief Minister Solar Agriculture Feeder gives free power during the day to 65% farmers, so far."
Meanwhile, degrees were conferred upon 4,602 graduates of various disciplines.
