NASHIK: The Harsul police, along with the local fishermen, on Monday fished out bodies of the four boys who had drowned while swimming in Kashyapi dam, 28 km from Nashik, on Sunday.
Six college students from Snehanagar in the Mhasrool area of Nashik, Atul Chavan, brothers Pankaj Bhagre and Jitesh Bhagre, Mangesh Maule, Shiva Pawar and Darshan Zirwal, all in Std XI and XII, had come to Kashyapi dam to celebrate Jitesh's birthday.
"Around 2 pm, Atul, Pankaj, Jitesh and Mangesh entered the waters for a swim; but when the boys could not come out, Shiva and Darshan rushed to the Girnare outpost under the Harsul police station to get help. The villagers rushedto the spot, but could not trace anyone. The search was dropped after dusk and taken up on Monday early morning. All the bodies were fished out by 1.30 pm," a police official from Harsul police station in Trimbakeshwar taluka said.
Mangesh's body was fished out first and handed over to the relatives after carrying out the post mortem at the Harsul Rural hospital. The bodies of the other deceased were found later and taken for a post mortem to Civil Hospital in Nashik. A case of accidental death has been recorded.
