Nashik: A 65-year-old man from Panchavati, allegedly stabbed by his son (35) during a domestic dispute on Feb 5, succumbed to his injuries at Adgaon Medical College on Tuesday.
According to the Panchavati police, the accused, identified as Ashwin Sakharam Bhavsar from Rokde Chawl in Navnath Nagar, has been arrested under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. The deceased was identified as Sakharam Pandit Bhavsar.
The incident occurred around 2.30pm on Feb 5. The father and son lived together, as Sakharam's wife had passed away nearly two decades ago. Both worked as drivers of private vehicles transporting vegetables to the Panchavati market yard.
The police said an argument broke out between the two that afternoon, during which Ashwin allegedly attacked his father with a knife. Locals rushed Sakharam to Nashik Civil Hospital, and after his condition worsened on Feb 10, he was shifted to Adgaon Medical College, where he remained under treatment.
Sakharam died of a stab wound to the abdomen on March 17. Following the hospital's intimation, Panchavati police registered a murder case and arrested Ashwin. Further investigation is underway.
