31 wards in Nashik city to get Rs7 crore each for devpt works
Nashik: All the 31 wards under the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) are set to receive Rs7 crore each for development works in the upcoming financial year, marking one of the largest ward-level allocations in recent years. The amount includes both corporator and dedicated road development funds, giving elected representatives substantial financial resources to address local civic needs after a prolonged period of administrative rule.Out of the total allocation, Rs3 crore has been earmarked as corporator funds, with Rs76 lakh earmarked for each corporator in the four-member ward system. In addition, Rs4 crore per ward has been designated specifically for road development, ensuring targeted improvement of key internal and connecting roads.Nashik currently operates under a system comprising 31 wards with 122 corporators, though two wards continue to function with a three-member structure.Municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri has instructed corporators to submit proposals for the development works they intend to undertake in the 2026–27 fiscal. This marks the first major allocation to corporators since administrative rule took over four years ago.
Khatri has emphasized the timely submission of proposals to ensure smoother implementation of works in the new financial cycle.During a recent standing committee meeting, Khatri clarified that the fresh allocation is in addition to corporator and ward development funds already set aside for both the current fiscal and the forthcoming one. She further added that each ward will also receive Rs4 crore from the municipal corporation's public works department. Separate funds will also be provided for water supply upgrades and sewerage network improvements, ensuring that every ward benefits from sector-specific investments beyond general development grants.
