3 killed in accident on Ghoti-Sinnar Road

Nashik: Three members of a family died in a road accident on the Ghoti-Sinnar Road on Monday around 4.30 pm following a truck-autorickshaw collision.
The highway police of the Ghoti unit said 24-year-old Amol Ghuge, of Nandwali in Kalyan, who was driving the autorickshaw, died on the spot. His daughter Swara (4), and another family member, Martand Avhad (60), died at a private hospital. His wife and another relative are under treatment.
Police said Ghuge was driving the autorickshaw from the Ghoti to Sinnar. The family was on its way to Shirdi. The accident occurred when he attempted to overtake another autorickshaw in front of him and got hit by an oncoming truck.
Inspector R S Vhonde said the accident spot is not a black spot and the accident occurred only because of the overtake manoeuver. Police have detained the truck driver, Rahul Prajapati, a resident of Jharkhand.
