Nashik: Three people, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed on Wednesday morning after a dumper truck hit two motorcycles at Nardana in Dhule, about 200 km from here.The Nardana police detained the truck driver and registered a case against him under relevant BNS sections for causing death by negligence and rash and negligent driving.Assistant inspector Nilesh More, of the Nardana police station, said the accident occurred around 10.30am on the Mumbai-Agra Highway near the Nardana bridge.The deceased have been identified as Sumit Mali (14) and Ganesh Mali (22), cousins and residents of Waghadi in Shirpur, and Sudhakar Badgujar (50), of Varshi in the Sindkheda taluka of Dhule.More said the three were crossing the Mumbai-Agra Highway to take the service road along the highway while travelling to Betwad for a religious programme when the dumper truck, laden with soil and travelling from Shirpur towards Dhule, struck both motorcycles simultaneously. All three sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival at the nearest hospital.Traffic on the busy Mumbai-Agra Highway was paralysed for nearly 45 minutes as police removed the vehicles from the roadway to restore the flow of traffic.
