12 lakh liquor destroyed by Deoli police
Wardha: Liquor worth around Rs 12 lakh seized in 115 cases was destroyed by Deoli police on Thursday following a court order. Thousands of bottles of country-made and foreign liquor were crushed with a road roller during the disposal process.Police said the liquor had been seized during a sustained drive against the illegal manufacture, transportation and sale of liquor in the Deoli subdivision. The action forms part of an ongoing crackdown on illicit liquor activities in the area.The seized stock was disposed of in compliance with court directions under the supervision of police inspector Sandeep Kapade.Officials from the State Excise Department, panch witnesses and police personnel were present during the operation. The bottles were destroyed using a road roller after completion of all legal and administrative formalities.Police said the disposal of the seized liquor has also helped ease storage constraints at the police station. They added that strict action against those involved in the illegal liquor trade would continue.Deoli police said the drive against illicit liquor activities would be intensified in the coming months to curb the illegal business and prevent related offences.
