Madikeri: A lone elephant created a ruckus at Nellihudikeri village on Friday morning, damaging an autorickshaw and plants in a coffee plantation.
The elephant descended from the hilly forest area and roamed near the Satyanarayana temple before moving to Bettadakadu village. It later entered MG Colony, where it strayed into a coffee plantation and damaged plants. The animal also damaged an autorickshaw parked in front of a house.
Following villagers' complaints, Kushalnagar range forest officer Rakshit N Nagar, sub-range forest officer Sachin Nimbalkar, and staff visited the spots. They used a drone to track the elephant's movement, conducted a combing operation in the coffee plantations and surrounding areas, and launched an operation to drive it back into the forest.
