Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday claimed that the present Uddhav Thackeray-led government will fall one day and that the BJP will be back in power in the 2024 polls, this time with a full majority.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), the BJP leader said, "Our party is not interested in bringing the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (Shiv Sena - Congress - NCP) down.
1x1 polls
It will fall under its burden. But until then, we play the role of Opposition strongly."
"The day this government collapses, we will be ready with the alternative. We believe BJP will win with a majority in the 2024 polls," he added.
Earlier today, Fadnavis along with other BJP leaders walked out of the BAC meeting in disagreement with the government planning to hold the monsoon session for only two days.
"There are issues of farmers and Maratha reservation among others. This government seems to be sleeping to discuss these. This is why we walked out from the Business Advisory Committee meeting today," he told media persons gathered outside.
He went on to say, "This government has been trying to ignore assembly sessions under the pretext of COVID-19. But when thousands of people come together for oath-taking ceremonies or inauguration of ruling party offices, then everything's fine."

"There is no place left for us to raise the voice of the common people. The two-day long session will be too short for us to raise various issues, the plight of people, farmers, students as well as the law and order situation in the state. This government has turned the democratic processes into a circus," Fadnavis retorted.
This is not the first time that Fadnavis has predicted a premature end to the MVA government. However, Shiv Sena MP had recently said that the coalition government "is committed to complete its 5-year term" and that attempts to break the alliance will go in vain.
