Suggestions for Navi Mumbai’s PCMC ward limit open till Sept 15

Navi Mumbai: The draft geographic limit for the upcoming Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) election has been notified for suggestion/objection and can be sent till Sept 15. "After getting the numbers, the Raigad collector will be consulted to decide personal hearings," said PCMC engineer, Nitin Hudar.PCMC has 20 wards with 78 elected corporators and 5 get nominated. Of these, 18 wards elect 4 corporators each and 2 wards return 3 corporators under the panel system. The change in ward limits has affected the existing political arithmetic as around 10,000 voters have been added to ward numbers 3 and 6 under Kharghar. BJP leader, Kiran Patil said, "Around 8,000 voters reduced from ward number 4 have been added to ward number 6."
