Mumbai: The BMC granted permission to the Shiv Sena (UBT) to hold its annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park next month, said party functionaries on Wednesday.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Mahesh Sawant applied to the BMC for permission to hold annual Dussehra rally of the party at Shivaji Park, and there was no other application to hold any rally there on Oct 2. The Shiv Sena, led by Dy CM Eknath Shinde, is likely to hold its Dussehra rally at Azad Maidan, as it did in the past, preventing any clash over the venue between the rivals.
In 2023, the Shiv Sena pulled out of the battle with the Shiv Sena (UBT) to hold its annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar. Months after the party applied to the BMC to get permission to hold the rally, the then Shiv Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar wrote to the BMC withdrawing the application, stating that the Shinde, whi was then the CM, did not want to create any rift during Hindu festivals.
The Shiv Sena held its Dussehra rally at Azad Maidan in Fort.
