MUMBAI: The fishing community is worried about their boats in case Cyclone Nisarga strikes. Fishermen in Utan in Bhayander (West) are running around to find a safe spot to berth around 350 big and small boats.
Utan does not have a jetty and boats are berthed on the shore itself.
“Boats can be severely damaged if left on the shore when the cyclone strikes.

We have been talking to the villagers of Gorai and Manori for space to berth our boats but they are worried about Covid,” said Malcolm Kasugar, Thane district president of Akhil Mahrashtra Machimar Kriti Samiti.
He said while villagers are being told to move to safer and higher areas, authorities are mum on boats, which are their livelihood.
