Andheri subway has been shut to traffic again owing to heavy rains being recorded in the area again for a brief period from 4.30pm-5.30pm. At Veera Desai Road, in Andheri near the Azad Nagar metro station, water logging was reported both on Monday morning and evening. Locals said that as both as low lying areas, a brief spell of heavy rain is known to water log the area.

BJP MLA from Bandra West Ashish Shelar, demanded a white paper on the pre-monsoon nullah cleaning. He blamed officials (there are no Corporators since elections have not been held for the last two years) for the improper cleaning of nullahs. “We had carried out inspection when the nullah cleaning work was ongoing and at the time had raised the issue of the nullahs not being cleaned properly. The sludge that was removed from the drains was left on the roadside and not cleared,” he said raising the issue in the assembly before it was adjourned for the day.

Mumbai Rain Live: The IMD upgraded its warning for the city and adjoining areas like Thane and Palghar giving out an orange alert indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) at isolated places for today July 8.
Since last night, Mumbai has received 300mm rain, around 200 water pumps of the Railways and more than 400 BMC water pumps are in service to drain out water. Trains on the Central and Harbour lines have resumed. Disaster management authorities, Army, Navy, and Air Force are on alert.
Mumbai Rain Live: Powai lake which supplies water for industrial uses started overflowing on Monday morning. It is not counted among the seven lakes which supply portable water to the city.

Mumbai Rain Live: Due to the cancellation of Mail Express trains, buses to Bhiwandi, Thane, Trimbakeshwar, Satara, Karad, Shrivardhan, Raigad, Chiplun, and Shivthar Ratnagiri were operated from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
The MSRTC provided special buses to those stranded due to the suspension of railway traffic on the Harbour route. A spokesperson said that the buses were arranged on the routes from Panvel to Dadar, Panvel to Vashi, and Uran to Dadar.
