Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday shot a letter to Union Home Minister
Amit Shah demanding a
CBI probe against Deputy Chief Minister
Ajit Pawar and state transport minister Anil Parab over the corruption allegations levelled against them by former Mumbai cop Sachin Waze.
In the letter, Patil stated that ever since the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (Shiv Sena - NCP - Congress) has come into power, the law and order in the state has collapsed for "obvious political revenge" and that it has been deliberately induced to "amass wealth by heinous ways adopted to collect illegal money".
The BJP leader mentioned that in Sachin Waze's statement to the court, he had accused both Pawar and Parab of extorting money.
"Waze has specifically made allegation that Pawar, through one Darshan Ghodawat, asked him to collect Rs 100 crores from illegal gutka sellers and manufacturers in the state. He also narrated that Parab asked him to collect Rs 2 crores from 50 BMC contractors on the basis of an anonymous complaint," Patil wrote.
The state BJP chief went on to say that if the matter is not dealt with properly, then the citizens of Maharashtra will lose faith in the legal system.
Waze was arrested and has been dismissed from service after his involvement came to light in the Antilia bomb scare case and the murder of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiren.
