Hubby, in-laws of woman who killed self sent to cop custody

MUMBAI: The holiday court has sent the husband and in-laws of a 29-year-old software engineer, Swapna, to three days police custody after she killed herself by hanging from the ceiling at their sixth-floor flat in Mulund (E) on Friday.
Swapna’s mother, Sunita Kadam, took custody of the deceased’s son. Her husband, Ninad Chavan (32), a bank manager, and the in-laws were arrested after Kadam alleged that her daughter killed herself due to harassment by the accused.Ninad has said that he had opposed his wife’s job change, which had led to a fight. “He said he didn’t think his wife would take such an extreme step,” said Navghar police senior inspector Ganesh Gaikwad.
