In the third round, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (3.88) is the only university that has scored over HR.
“Among colleges, HR is the first in India with this CGPA score under the new revised scheme,” said principal Indu Shahani. The NAAC team, headed by former V-C of Bharathidasan University, C Thangamuthu, visited the campus this January. “The visiting team was impressed by the fact that we are a student empowering college, the fact that we use technology to expand access and better quality of education,” she added.
The NAAC team recommended that colleges like HR must expand into other streams, instead of merely being a uni-faculty college. The team lauded the college students’ Chirag initiative under which 126 villages were adopted and solar lights supplied.
