<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MUMBAI: Actor-turned-MP Govinda''s brother Kirti Kumar, who was allegedly threatened by armed men on Monday, may not be under the mafia scanner, say the city police.<br /><br />Kumar had submitted a written application to the police after four men allegedly threatened him with a revolver on the Andheri-Kurla Road when he was travelling in a vehicle with a friend.
The police believe that a business-related dispute may have sparked the incident.<br /><br />Kumar, a film financier by profession, said in his statement to the police that he had been driving towards Borivli in his Ambassador car when the incident occurred.<br /><br />Four men travelling in a Qualis overtook his vehicle and pointed a revolver at him before speeding off.<br /><br />Kumar added that he had received threatening phone calls in the past but never took them seriously.<br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section2"><div class="Normal">The Andheri police have registered a case of criminal intimidation and have also provided police protection to Kumar as a precaution. No arrests have been made so far.<br /><br />The police are investigating whether Kumar, who had started out as a director, has any pending financial dues. Kumar''s films included <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">''Hatya</span>,'' which first shot Govinda to stardom. His last venture was <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">''Kismat''</span>, which starred Govinda and Mamta Kulkarni.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Govinda skipped an all-India meeting of postal employees at Palghar on Tuesday citing security reasons.<br /><br />The police clarified that he had not received any threats. Both Kumar and the MP were unavailable for comment.</div> </div>
