MUMBAI: The Congress has opposed BMC's plan to be the single planning authority for Mumbai. City Congress chief Bhai Jagtap said he was firmly opposed to any plan to make BMC the sole planning agency for Mumbai.
"The BMC has made a request to the state government for having a single planning authority in Mumbai in its budget so that it gets all powers and authority.
We are opposed to this completely. At present Mhada, MMRDA, MSRDC, SRA, MIDC, Mumbai Port Trust are the agencies which take decisions under their authority.
But the BMC wants a single planning authority and it is strongly opposed by the Congress," Jagtap said. Jagtap also hit out at the BMC for not giving 100% waiver in property tax for those living in homes of less than 500 sq ft.
