THANE/NAVI Mumbai: The police reported three rape cases in Thane and Navi Mumbai areas over the last two days.
In the first case, a three-year-old girl was raped by a 18-year-person and left on the road in Kalwa. The police have arrested
Deep Roy from his Bhandup residence for the crime.
The incident occurred at Vaghoba Nagar, where the minor had accompanied her mother to the Shiva temple.
The police said the mother and daughter had queued up outside the temple as it was Mahashivratri.
"The girl had got bored standing in the queue and went a little distance away to play. Roy, who was painting a nearby shop, noticed her and playfully took her inside. The mother presumed that he took her daughter into the shop to offer sweets,'' a police official said.
The incident came to light when the girl cried and informed her mother later.
Two cases were registered at the Vashi police station. Senior inspector Raosaheb Sardesai said two persons were arrested for the rape of a 12-year-old girl and a handicapped girl.
