Father, son held in Shamli firecracker factory raid

Shamli: A father and son were arrested when police raided an illegal firecracker factory in Butrada village, Shamli, on Sunday. A third suspect remains at large. A large quantity of firecrackers and explosives was seized, and a case was filed under Explosives Act.
Shamli SP, Ramsevak Gautam, said, "We arrested Mohammad Rizwan and his son Mohammad Farman for manufacturing firecrackers at home.The third suspect, Mohammad Gulzama, escaped, and efforts are on to apprehend him."
Officials seized about 9,500 firecrackers and 46 kg of gunpowder, along with firecracker-making equipment.
The illegal operation of firecracker factories tends to spike in the lead-up to Diwali in Western Uttar Pradesh, presenting a serious risk to life and property due to frequent accidents. In the past few years, the region has witnessed several devastating explosions in such makeshift factories.
Despite a National Green Tribunal ban on firecracker sales in NCR, illegal production and supply to Delhi continue.
