Dense fog triggers massive pile-up on Delhi-Lucknow highway; 3 in critical condition

BIJNOR: At least six people were injured, three of them critically, after over 10 vehicles collided in quick succession in two separate accidents caused by dense fog on National Highway-9 in Amroha early on Saturday.Both accidents occurred near Didoli area, where poor visibility due to thick fog led to pile-ups. Police said non-functional streetlights along the highway further worsened driving conditions.The first accident took place around 4.30 am on the Moradabad-Delhi lane when a vehicle rammed into a truck, triggering a chain-like collision involving several vehicles. About an hour later, another crash occurred at the same spot, involving a pickup van, a car and a bus.Police shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, and used cranes to remove damaged vehicles. Traffic remained disrupted for nearly two hours before normal movement was restored. No formal complaints had been lodged till late Saturday.Circle officer Abhishek Yadav said the critically injured include a vehicle driver, Wahid Ali (35) of Bareilly, car occupant Hamaza (25) of Pakwada, and Harish Kumar (30).
