Two camera traps installed for tiger census stolen in Naravi Reserve Forest, Karnataka
Mangaluru: Two camera traps installed for tiger census operations in Naravi Reserve Forest area of Belthangady were reportedly stolen.
According to a complaint filed by Ravindra K, 46, deputy range forest officer and enumerator with wildlife division, Belthangady, the theft came to light during a routine inspection. The camera traps had been installed on May 1 near Pela in Savanalu village of Belthangady taluk as part of the tiger census exercise. On May 13, when Ravindra K, along with other forest officials and staff, visited the site for inspection, they found two cameras missing.
The estimated value of the stolen camera traps is Rs 48,000. A case has been registered at Belthangady police station under Section 303(2) of the BNS.
