Police nab person accused of stealing chain from jewellery store

Personnel of Mangalore North Police station on Tuesday nabbed a person who had stolen a gold chain from a jewellery store and recovered a gold chain worth Rs 42,250 weighing 16.30 grams from his possession.

MANGALORE: Personnel of Mangalore North Police station on Tuesday nabbed a person who had stolen a gold chain from a jewellery store and recovered a gold chain worth Rs 42,250 weighing 16.30 grams from his possession.
The accused – Vinod, 30, resident of Vinod Nilaya, near Srinivas College, Adyar post and village in the city was produced before the jurisdictional court that remanded him in to judicial custody up to October 21.

M C Madan, PSI (crime) of Mangalore North PS and staff spotted Vinod on the Felix Pai Bazaar road while on routine patrolling, came across a person who resembled a suspected who stole gold jewellery from a jewellery store having gone there in the guise of a customer and detained him. The accused admitted to the crime during questioning. Police recovered the chain from a cooperative society where he had pawned it for Rs 29,000.
