Madurai: Youth held for attacking teenager

MADURAI: Police on Tuesday arrested a youth for attacking a teenager using a sickle due to previous enmity.
The injured person was rushed to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The injured was identified as R Ajay, 19, from Karuppasamy Nagar in Anaiyur. According to police, the accused identified as R Godwinraj, 21, recently teased a young girl, who is a relative of Ajay’s friend, Ajith.
When the girl brought the issue to the notice of Ajith and Ajay, the duo warned Godwinraj. On Tuesday, Godwinraj picked up a quarrel with Ajay.
As it turned murkier, he brought a sickle and attacked Ajay. Ajay suffered grievous injuries and fell down. A case was registered on charges of attempt to murder and causing grievous injuries. The accused was nabbed on Tuesday night and lodged in prison.
