Tamil Nadu polls: No issues in NDA on seat-sharing, says Nainar Nagenthran
MADURAI: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday said there are no issues regarding seat sharing in NDA, and criticised DMK for its failed promises, rising crime rate, and drug prevalence in the past five years. He was speaking to reporters here on Tuesday before participating in a protest organised by the alliance led by AIADMK in Madurai to condemn the DMK govt.Nagenthran said only a few of the ‘505 promises' made by DMK in the election have been fulfilled, but that party is eager to make Udayanidhi the chief minister using ‘official power,' and is enticing people with money. He said as many as 1,977 murders have occurred in Tamil Nadu in the last five years, including 361 children, while 38 women have been sexually assaulted and murdered. Circulation of ganja, cocaine, and methamphetamine is high, with as much as 2 lakh kilogram of ganja seized in the last five years, he said.He said, as in the past, DMK has adopted a specific strategy for the election this time by raking up Hindi language issue. "While Hindi may exist, what we need is Tamil to be present everywhere. But they are using it for politics as there is no benefit in destroying Hindi" he said. He asked why TVK leader Vijay did not condemn Aadhav Arjuna's remarks about actor Rajinikanth, and demanded an apology for it. He dismissed allegations that BJP is threatening Vijay as baseless.
