Kerosene bomb thrown at Thevar portrait; road blockade in Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli: Tension prevailed in Thimmarajapuram near Palayamkottai after unidentified people hurled a kerosene bomb at a portrait of freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.Police said the incident occurred late Saturday night inside a small memorial structure in the village. The explosion shattered the glass casing and damaged the interior. The vandalism was noticed on Sunday morning, triggering protests by local residents. A group staged a road blockade and stopped a government bus, disrupting traffic for several hours while demanding immediate arrests. Police personnel rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesters. A forensic team collected evidence, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the suspects.
