Gold bars worth Rs4.5 crore seized

Sivaganga: Static surveillance team officials seized gold bars worth Rs4.51 crore during a routine vehicular inspection at S S Kottai police checkpost in Sivaganga district on Saturday night. The seizure occurred within Tirupattur constituency limits.Sources said the occupant of the vehicle, identified as Karthikeyan of Madurai, could not produce valid supporting documents. The recovered gold was confiscated under the Model Code of Conduct, and safely deposited at the govt treasury. They will be returned to the owner on providing valid documents.
