Confident of winning Madurai Central constituency, says Sundar C

Madurai: Actor and director Sundar C, who is contesting the election as the Puthiya Neethi Katchi (New Justice Party) candidate in the AIADMK alliance, exuded confidence that he would definitely win the Madurai Central constituency.Sundar C, who will face off against sitting DMK minister P T R Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, arrived in Madurai on Wednesday and addressed reporters. Responding to a question about his familiarity with the Madurai Central constituency, Sundar said he has a deep understanding of the area. He added that he is well aware of the issues in Madurai and would take necessary steps to address them.When asked about contesting in Madurai Central, considered a stronghold of the DMK, against sitting minister PTR, Sundar said competition is tough everywhere. "We cannot back down because of competition. We are in the fray to win and are confident of securing victory," he said.Sundar said that he has given many interviews in the media as a film director and politics was a new field to him. He thanked Puthiya Neethi Katchi founder A C Shanmugam, all the leaders of the alliance parties, including AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran, for providing him an opportunity to contest from the Madurai Central constituency.He also said he would meet leaders from alliance parties on Wednesday to seek their support, and would begin his campaign in the constituency after filing his nomination on April 4.
