Student hurt as stray cattle rams two-wheeler

Tirunelveli: A college student was injured after a stray cattle mowed her down while she was riding a two-wheeler to college in Tirunelveli on Wednesday morning. The student, identified as Swathika from Thirumalnagar in Tirunelveli, was riding her vehicle when she crossed Thiagaraja Nagar Second Street. A stray cattle rammed her two-wheeler, causing her to lose balance and fall. The video of the incident went viral on social media. Swathika, who sustained injuries to her limbs, was rushed to a private hospital where her condition is stable.
Stray cattle and dogs are becoming a menace in Tirunelveli city of late. A court staff member, Velayutharaj, riding his motorcycle, was crushed to death on Vannarapettai Road in Tirunelveli city after two cows fighting with each other on the road pushed him in front of a speeding bus in June this year. After the incident, Tirunelveli City Corporation captured 47 stray cattle and fined the cattle owners. However, stray cattle continue to roam the busy roads of Tirunelveli city again.
