PATIALA: The Patiala divisional commissioner and state revenue sectary Anurag Verma conducted surprise inspection of the Fard Kendra (revenue center) at Rajpura.
During the inspection he interacted with the farmers, who had come to the Fard Kendra to obtain the copies of their jamabandis (revenue record). Mann Singh of Mohi Khurd village informed Verma that after setting up of the Fard Kendra he did not have to run after the revenue officials to get copy of his 'jamabandi'.
He said that he was able to get copy of his 'jamabandi' from the Fard Kendra in only 10 minutes and after paying a fee of only Rs 20 per page.

Verma also interacted with the deed writers and the persons gathered there and inquired about the functioning of the Fard Kendra.
After inspection, Verma directed the tehsildar to ensure that every Patwari should come at the Fard Kendra at least twice a week and update the revenue record pertaining to his village. He also directed tehsildar to ensure that mutations/rapats regarding all the documents registered since April 1, 2011 are entered in the computer.
When asked about expansion of revenue centers in Punjab, Verma informed that a Fard Kendra is being set up at each tehsil/sub-tehsil in the state. Farmers will be able to obtain their copy of the jamabandi across the counter at a nominal fee of Rs 20 per page only. As of now, about 110 Fard Kendras, covering about 8,000 villages have already been set up and functioning in various districts of Punjab. In Rajpura, out of 123 villages about 105 villages have been covered under new revenue centers.
