LUDHIANA: Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma on Saturday raised concerns over the 'deteriorating' law and order situation in the state and claimed that leaders of the saffron party were receiving threat calls.
Sharma alleged that police officials were not acting on their complaints as if they were not allowed to act.
He suspected that the ruling party was getting all this done knowingly and from previous incidents it appeared as if the Mann government was giving shelter to those extremists who wanted to harm communal harmony and peace in Punjab.
Ashwani Sharma while briefing the media persons at the circuit house said, “There were repeated incidents in crimes. The people of Punjab are in constant fear and that is why they are shifting to foreign countries or at least to other states where they could find a peaceful atmosphere”.
He questioned CM Bhagwant Mann why he was silent about the claims of Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannu that the AAP government was formed in Punjab with their support.
“Perhaps this is the reason that crime has increased because the government had given Khalistan supporters free hand,” he added.
While talking about the shifting of industry from Punjab, he said, “All this is happening just because of fearful atmosphere in Punjab and also because no beneficial schemes were being offered to the industrialists”.
Sharma on the non-implementation of central government-funded schemes in the state said, “The ruling party has failed in taking benefits of these schemes and now we have decided to form a three-member committee at the state level which will bridge the gaps between the schemes. The schemes like Atta Dal, PM Awas Yojna etc will be implemented in a better manner".
Sharma advised the ruling party to spend money on paying their share in the Ayushman scheme instead of giving advertisements in papers.
Resignation of Fauja Singh Sarari under BJP pressure, claims Sharma
Reacting over the resignation of minister Fauja Singh Sarari, the BJP state president claimed it took six months for the AAP to make Sarai resign and it is all because BJP kept on pressurising the ruling party. Like in Delhi even in Punjab, the actual faces of AAP leaders are getting exposed.
