Man held for robbing bike at gunpoint
Ludhiana: Month after a group of miscreants robbed a Chhawani Mohalla resident of his bike at gunpoint, the Division No. 4 police have arrested one of the accused and recovered the bike. The police discovered that the accused had a criminal history had come out on bail about two months ago, and indulged in crime again. The police have recovered the snatched bike, however, the gun used in the crime is yet to be recovered.The arrested accused has been identified as Abhay Adiya alias Mathi of Chhawni Mohalla. His associate, Rajan Sidhu alias Nannu, and other accomplices are yet to be arrested. The police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of 19-year-old Moksh Sidhu of Chhawani Mohalla. The victim alleged that on Dec 2, he was going to a filling station to get petrol filled in his bike. As he reached near Peer Di Dargah in Chhawni Mohalla, a Hyundai Verna car intercepted him. Two accused alighted from the car, threatened him with a gun and a sharp-edged weapon, and robbed him of his bike. Moksh filed a complaint with the police immediately after the incident. Inspector Gurjeet Singh, SHO at Division No. 4 police station, said the police probed the matter and tracked one of the accused Abhay Adiya alias Mathi.
The accused was arrested and the snatched bike was recovered from his possession. The inspector added that the arrested accused already has several FIRs against him and had come out on bail about two months ago. The police are trying to track his aides as well. Besides, the accused is being interrogated to recover the weapon used in the crime. An FIR under sections 309(4) (robbery) and 3(5) (criminal act executed by common intention) of the BNS, and sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act, was lodged against the accused.
