PILIBHIT: The district police nabbed two drug suppliers carrying 34 grams of smack worth Rs 3.5 lakh in Pilibhit city on Friday night. However, three more accused managed to escape, police said.
The two accused were arrested during a vehicle checking drive at Tiger crossing on the outskirts of the city. They were identified as Shaqir Ahmad (25), a resident of Bareilly, and Wazid Hussain (22) of Jaipur district in Rajasthan, said Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the SHO of Sungarhi police station.
He added that the accused were booked under 8/21 of the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances act and sent to jail.
Their Chevrolet car was impounded by the police.
The accused disclosed that they had a drug supply network from Uttarakhand to Rajasthan via
Uttar Pradesh. The police are also searching for a woman from Pilibhit city who is a key link between the drug sellers and the buyers.
