Lucknow: Bodies of a constable, posted with the state disaster relief force (SDRF) and his wife were found under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday morning in their rented accommodation within the Bijnor police station limits.
"After receiving the information a police team was rushed to the spot. The police opened the door which was locked from inside. The body of the constable was hanging from the fan, while his wife's body was lying on the bed," said deputy commissioner of police (south) Keshav Kumar.
Though locals said that some injury marks were found on the woman's neck, the police have denied this. "Prima facie, we have not found any mark. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after receiving the postmortem examination reports. In case of anti-mortem injuries, necessary action will be taken," the DCP said, adding that no suicide note was found at the spot.
Earlier, one Shahanshah Katihar informed the police that his 27-year-old colleague, who lived in a rented house outside the SDRF camp, was not picking up the phone since Tuesday morning. The police said that the couple was originally from Agra and married about two years ago. The deceased was of 2019 batch and was posted as constable with the SDRF in Lucknow.
Bijnor police station in-charge Arvind Kumar Rana said that a rope was tied around the constable's wife's neck too. Investigation is on.
