LUCKNOW: A person was arrested and a case of rioting was lodged against three following a group clash involving local youngsters in Thakurganj area on Sunday night.
According to police, the person arrested has been identified as Mohammad Abbas, while two others manage to flee. It started on Saturday night when one Farzan lodged an FIR against Aman Mirza and Kumail at Thakurganj police station accusing them of assaulting him.
Late on Sunday evening, when Farzan was passing through his locality, he was stopped by Aman and Kumail and allegedly threatened for lodging FIR. The verbal spat turned into a scuffle. Farzan fled from the spot, while his two-wheeler was damaged by Aman and Kumail. Police rushed to the spot following rumours of a sectarian clash.
"Police have registered a case under various IPC sections (147, 148, 307 and 427 of IPC) involving rioting, attempt to murder and causing damage to property against the accused," said additional SP (west) Sarvesh Kumar, while denying reports of sectarian clashes. Additional forces are already deployed in the area to avert any possible conflict-like situation during the ongoing month of Muharram. Aman and Kumail are absconding at present.
