Shaheed Smarak becoming a spot for mob fury?

LUCKNOW: It was the second incident of major violence at Shaheed Smarak within two months. On September 14, over three dozen protesters along with policemen, including the then DIG Rajeev Krishna and three ASP level officers, were injured. On Thursday too, over two dozen protesters along with some policemen, including SP (west) BP Ashok, were injured.
On September 14, agitating Shiksha Mitras had indulged in heavy stone-pelting and uprooted the railings of the road divider at the Shaheed Smarak. In the Thursday violence, MNREGA members burnt several vehicles, broke police barricading and damaged hoardings including the government hoardings.
Three vehicles set afire by the agitators included a police four-wheeler (UP 32 BG 6226), a two-wheeler (UP 32 B 6220) and a motorcycle (UP 32 AU 8328) probably of a photo journalist from a Hindi daily. Another motorcycle (UP 32-CH 2844) of a journalist was also damaged in heavy stone-pelting.
