LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra was detained from 10am to 5.45pm in the court of additional sessions judge Shamsher Khan on Friday before he was released after furnishing fresh bail bonds and two sureties of Rs 60,000 each. The court also directed him to remain present during next five hearings. The court directed the prosecution to produce the witnesses expeditiously.

Mehrotra appeared before the court in compliance with the high court's order, which had directed him to appear before the court and seek fresh bail, further directing the trial court to release him on fresh bail bonds and sureties. Mehrotra was evading appearance in an old case from 33 hearings, following which the trial court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him and directed the police to attach his properties.
