LUCKNOW: NR Mohanty has been elected as president of the Aeronautical Society of India at the 54th AGM of the society held in Kolkata. He will succeed Kota Harinarayana.
Mohanty, chairman, HAL joined HAL in June 1971 and served as general manager of Koraput and Nasik divisions before being appointed as MD. He is also member of the defence committee of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
As the chairman of India Russian Aviation Ltd, Mohanty made significant contributions to its growth, particularly in diversification and export activities.
During his stewardship, the Koraput and Nasik divisions were adjudged as the best division and received the Jawaharlal Nehru Trophy consecutively for two years.
