Lucknow: Hardoi courts sentenced two men on Friday in separate cases involving sexual crimes against minors.
In the first case, additional district judge Manmohan Singh (Special Judge
POCSO Act) sentenced Gaya Prasad to 12 years' rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl in May 2019. The victim, a resident of Atrauli Kotwali area, was held hostage in an orchard for nearly a week and subjected to sexual assault. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000, half of which will be paid to the victim as compensation.
In a separate case, additional district and sessions judge Hemendra Kumar Singh handed down a life sentence to Alok Kumar Dwivedi, a bus conductor, for the 2015 rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Kotwali Dehat area. The victim was attacked, sexually assaulted, and strangled to death. The accused then disposed of the body behind a school. The court imposed a fine of Rs 75,000, which will be paid to the victim's family as compensation.
