Husband, in-laws held for teacher's death

LUCKNOW: Three people were arrested in connection with the mysterious death of an assistant professor in Chinhat college. On the basis of the FIR lodged by deceased Shivani Gupta's father, the people arrested were her husband Shashank Jaiswal, father-in-law Pawan and mother-in-law Laxmi. Shivani was found hanging in her room on September 22.
Police said her husband had claimed that Shivani ended her life due to depression.But her father MK Gupta alleged that Shashank had been demanding a car as dowry from Shivani since their marriage two years ago. Shashank has denied dowry and murder charges.
Shooter held: Hardcore criminal Sher Singh of Chinhat was arrested for involvement in an attack case. He was also involved in an assault along with Imran Ali. Singh has a criminal past and calls the shots in Trans- Gomti. Aliganj circle officer Meenakshi Gupta said arrests were made on the basis of investigation but refused to divulge details.
