Four injured in animal attacks in Amethi villages
Lucknow: In a series of animal attacks in different villages of Sangrampur and Musafirkhana blocks of Amethi district, four persons, including a man and his son, were injured. The injured were taken to community health centres (CHCs). Residents informed officials of the forest department about the incidents. Officials reached the spot and claimed that the attacks were made by jackals.In Sangrampur block's Chakradhar village, Puttulal, whose house is situated on the outskirts of the village, had tied his goat outside the home. According to the victim, around 11 am on Sunday, an animal attacked the goat. Hearing the goat's cries, Puttulal rushed to help, but the animal attacked him as well. Puttulal's 15-year-old son Premlal was also injured by the animal when he came to help his father. Both of them were rushed to the CHC in Sangrampur and discharged after primary treatment.Upon receiving the information, forest officer Ranveer Mishra arrived at the scene with his team. Following the villagers' directions, they searched the nearby bushes and found a jackal dead. Villagers speculated that the jackal might have been rabid.
Singh confirmed that the dead jackal was sent to the Sangrampur veterinary hospital for post-mortem examination. The report will confirm whether the jackal was rabid.In a separate incident at Musafirkhana's Dari Deeh village, Antima (18), daughter of one Ashok Kumar, was sleeping at home when an animal attacked her around 3.30 am on Saturday. In the nearby village of Jharkata, another animal attacked Jayant (18), son of Radheshyam, while he was sleeping in the verandah of his house. Hearing the commotion, villagers rushed to the scene and managed to chase down and beat the animal to death. Both Antima and Jayant were admitted to the CHC in Shahgarh.DFO Mishra stated that the forest department had not been previously informed of the incidents. He assured that a team would be immediately dispatched to the affected villages to investigate. The confirmation of the species involved will be made after receiving the team's report, while prima facie it appears to be an attack by a jackal.
