LUCKNOW: AIIMS Bhopal director Dr Ajai Singh, who is also the head of paediatric orthopaedics superspeciality sub-committee, will lead a team of experts for designing Fellow of National Board (FNB) course in paediatric orthopaedics.
The decision has been taken by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBE-MS), Delhi. The paediatric orthopaedics is the super-speciality branch of orthopaedics dealing with childhood bone & joint ailments.
Dr Singh was instrumental in starting a superspeciality department of paediatric orthopaedics at KGMU.
Singh, a renowned surgeon who has been involved with treatment of childhood bone diseases for more than a decade, said, "I have got a mail from NBE-MS to lead seven members of the team in designing FNB course."
"This fellowships programme for doctors will give them better training and knowledge and help in providing better treatment to children suffering from bone related ailments," he said. "The MCh course was started at KGMU by National Medical Commission (NMC) after a lot of effort. This course is for three years and required more faculties and beds but FNB course will need less faculty as well as beds and will easily able to run in government institution," he said. Also, the curriculum of the course will be less and easy, he added.
