CM: Bapu’s life paves way for world peace
Lucknow: Paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary on Thursday, CM Yogi Adityanath said that Bapu's teachings and his life of sacrifice continues to pave the way for world peace.
Yogi also visited Mahatma Gandhi's statue at the General Post Office in Lucknow and offered floral tributes.
CM Yogi wrote on his official X handle, "On the death anniversary of the great leader of the freedom movement, ‘Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi, I pay my heartfelt tribute. Let us all pledge to build a ‘New India— Developed India' by following the path of truth, non-violence and self-reliance as shown by Bapu."
Marking the solemn occasion, children presented a musical tribute to the Father of the Nation, with CM Yogi joining them in the rendition. Children sang devotional hymns such as ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' and ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Je Peed Parayi Jaane Re'.
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLAs Neeraj Bora, Rajeshwar Singh, Amresh Kumar and MLC Lalji Prasad Nirmal, were also present on the occasion.
Later in the evening Yogi paid tribute to Gandhi by visiting the Shaheed Smarak Sthal on the banks of the Gomti river. He lit lamps to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and also to martyrs in whose memory the Shaheed Smarak was built.
An official spokesperson said a bhajan evening was organised on the occasion where Gandhi's favourite bhajans ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye' and ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' were sung.
