Brainstorming on HR issues, challenges

lucknow: the state capital will playhost to corporate bigwigs coming to participate in a two-day national conferenceon ‘adding value to business through hr: issues and challenges’ tobe held at hotel taj on february 22-23. organised by the lucknow chapter of thenational human resource development network (nhrdn), the conference will providea platform for business leaders, hr practitioners, line managers, academicians,consultants and students to exchange views on emerging business hr issues andchallenges. the conference is being organised in joint association with thetimes of india, ascent. president, nhrdn, lucknow chapter and joint president,hindalco industries limited, pk panda, while talking to mediapersons onsaturday, said that one of the biggest challenges before hr professionals atpresent was how to integrate the culture and structure of two companies formedafter merger, takeover or acquisition. “normally, the problem faced aftera merger or takeover is that companies slash jobs and workers feelinsecure,� he said and added that it often resulted in flight of talentfrom companies. “our focus will be to develop strategies to retain thetalent,� he said. ceos and presidents of industries like hindalco,hindustan lever, bseb, itc, sahara india, siemens, scooters india limited,motorola, rpg enterprises, hughes software systems, british telecom, tisco,global green co ltd, lic, birla vxl, ntpc, ma foi, escotel, times internet,hewlett packard india, whirlpool, glaxo smith kline beecham and mckinsey andcompany will participate in the conference. besides academicians and managementgurus of national eminence like director, indian institute of management,lucknow, prof pritam singh; director, iit, mumbai, prof ashok mishra and profranjan das, iim, kolkata will also share their views. chairman, academicaffairs, nhrdn, renu luthra was also present on the occasion.
