Kozhikode: Kozhikode district sessions court granted bail to the woman who was arrested on Jan 21 under suicide abetment charges in connection with the death of Govindapuram native U Deepak.
The woman who is a resident of Chorode, near Vadakara was under judicial custody for the last 21 days.
The court granted bail to the woman and directed her to appear before the investigating officer twice a month, in the second week and last week, and not to influence witnesses. She was also asked to furnish a personal bond and two sureties.
The court granted bail to the woman overruling the prosecution's argument that the bail should not be granted until the report of the forensic examination of the woman's mobile phone and laptop.
Kunnamangalam JFCM court earlier rejected her bail plea following which she approached the sessions court.
The woman had filmed Deepak, a sales executive with a textile firm, during a bus journey and later shared the video on social media, alleging that he touched her inappropriately during the ride at Payyanur, Kannur. The video went viral, garnering over two million views within two days.
Deepak's mother K Kanyaka in a complaint to district police chief stated that her son died due to mental trauma following alleged false allegations by the woman.
