Youth stabs girl

MALDA: Refused in love, a youth turned violent and stabbed the girl at Mohonpur village in Malda on Saturday.
The victim, a teenaged girl, is in hospital. Local youth Mittu Sk (20) had, for long, been trying to woo her, but she did not him any heed. On Saturday, as she was going to her tuitions, she found Mittu waiting for her. He tried to give her a letter, which she refused.
A desperate Mittu took out a sickle and started hacking her. The girl started crying out for help. Villagers took her to Malda District Hospital. "We have registered a case against the youth, who is absconding," said ASP Sujit Sarkar. His father, Ilias Sk, was interrogated.
