Snatchers target women in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Snatchers struck twice in Kolkata on Friday.
The first incident occurred at Taraknath Pramanik Road at Cossipore. Avinash Roy, the accused, snatched a gold chain from a woman who was returning home with her son. Though Roy tried to escape, the woman's screams for help alerted the locals, who nabbed the miscreant and handed him over to police.
In another incident at Central Park in Jadavpur, a 45-year-old woman was getting down from a rickshaw when a miscreant suddenly reached the spot in a taxi, snatched a gold chain from the woman's neck and fled. Three persons were arrested in this connection.
