Don’t sit idle: Suvendu preps team for Nandigram bypoll
Nandigram: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday entrusted five BJP MLAs with the task of retaining Nandigram in the upcoming bypolls.
Adhikari, a three-time MLA from Nandigram, made his first visit to the constituency after resigning from the assembly seat and opting to retain Bhowanipore.
He also directed senior BJP netas to launch an aggressive campaign for the Nandigram by-election. During the meeting, Kanthi MP Soumendu Adhikari was given charge of supervising the overall campaign.
Apart from Soumendu Adhikari, those present at the meeting included Bhagabanpur MLA Shantanu Pramanik, Patashpur MLA Tapan Maity, Ramnagar MLA Chandrasekhar Mondal, Kanthi South MLA Arup Kumar Das, and BJP functionaries Meghnad Pal, Prolay Pal and Anjan Bharati.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Pramanik said: "We discussed keeping our organisational momentum going post-elections, ensuring our workers remain on the ground to serve people while strictly maintaining peace and stability in the region."
"The CM emphasised that just because we have come into govt, doesn't mean we sit back. We must connect with people even more deeply. Regarding the by-election, our goal is to secure a victory with a substantially higher margin than the elections — for that, every worker from the grassroots to the booth level will work as a united front," Pramanik added.
Speaking at a party meeting on Saturday night, Adhikari insisted that he would not allow members to "idle". He said people had too many expectations from the newly elected state govt and the "govt is fully committed to fulfilling the expectations."
"No functionary, ranging from MPs and MLAs to organisational seniors can afford to remain idle. Everyone must immediately engage with the public and consistently work with them," Adhikari added.
