Four members of a family died in a blast at an illegal cracker factory in Hooghly's Chanditala on Monday evening.Three persons were injured.

Chanditala: Four members of a family died in a blast at an illegal cracker factory in Hooghly's Chanditala on Monday evening. Three persons were injured.
The residents of Choto Tajpur Malpara village in Chanditala, together with the police, put out the fire. Police then brought out the four charred bodies. Villagers identified them as Tapash Mal, his wife Mamoni and children Hakim and Sohana.

The injured were admitted to Chanditala hospital. Factory owner Ashok Mal, Tapash's brother, has gone into hiding.
Chanditala panchayat samiti sabhapati Santu Rich said they had clamped down on illegal cracker units in the area, but some continued to operate under cover.
Hooghly SP Sunil Chowdhury said all unlicensed cracker factories in Chanditala have been sealed. A probe has been started.
